Neighbourhood Prayer Walk

Prayer Walking is a way to saturate your neighbourhood, your workplace or school with prayer.
4 weeks leading up to Easter.

Prayer walking is…

“Ordinary believers stepping into the streets to pray effectively for their neighbors. With eyes
wide open to real needs and with ears open to the promptings of God’s Spirit, intercessionbecomes an adventure” (Graham Kendrick)

As we pray for our communities, we can begin to see a spiritual awakening around us prompted
by God, not our programs.

Prayer walking involves taking our prayers to the very places where we desire to see God’s
presence manifested and our prayers answered.

As you pray, you will find that God opens your eyes and prepares your heart to see the city from
His perspective. Your sorrow may deepen for the plight of your neighbours while your hope
grows for what God desires and is able to do through your prayers.

The Plan:

As a Church we want to do this together. Make time once a week to prayer walk your
neighbourhood on the Sundays leading up to Easter. (March 7, 14, 21, 29) Read the scriptures
out loud to encourage your spirit, build your faith and inspire your prayers.
Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

How to pray for:

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you

…in your prayers for your neighbours, coworkers, and fellow students

Luke 12:12 “for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.”

Jude 20 “But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the
power of the Holy Spirit.”

Pray for the salvation of your neighbours

1 Timothy 2:1–4 “I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on
their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so
that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and
pleases God our Saviour, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is
longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to
repentance.”

Pray for opportunities to share Jesus’ love with them

Romans 10:14–15 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how
shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are
the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Pray for the courage to invite them

(Alpha, church online, LIFE Groups)
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound
mind.”

Acts 4:13 “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were
uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with
Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 3:12 “Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech”

Pray for the blessing and favour of God over each household

Matthew 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those
who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”

Luke 6:28 “Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.”

Numbers 6:24–26 “The LORD bless them and keep them The LORD make His face shine upon
them, And be gracious to them; The LORD lift up His countenance upon them, And give them
peace.”
