Change in the hands of Jesus

Have you ever given your kids some money to buy you something and they don’t return the change? For example, you give them $15 and a list, and instruct them to go to the store and pick up the items on the list for dinner. Then they come back a few hours later with the items you requested and a receipt showing the cost of $12.34 and yet don’t return the change?? OR, you give them $20 for youth event costing $18 and you don’t get the remaining $2 back at the end of the night? That would really bother me!

As I was thinking about this, I began to wonder if we are like that with God? According to the Word James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father” All I have is from HIM –job, home, clothes, cars, food. He has provided so many and all things!!

After giving me so many thing, do I give HIM “the change” from my spending of the income I have? Do I get paid, give him 10% first fruits, then with the rest pay my bills? Do I pay my bills and “forget to even give him the change at all” as my kids have done to me?

In Matt 15:32, Jesus was concerned about the people as they had no food for days. HE was unwilling to send anyone away hungry so He asked what they had. He took what was given to Him, blessed it and it went farther than anyone would have thought to feed everyone and more! He couldn’t have fed anyone if no one gave him the food in the first place. Yes, He could have made it fall from Heaven, but I think the point Jesus trying to make was that he wants to partner with us!

Change goes a long way in the hands of Jesus.
